Financial Business Analyst (Commodities / MNC) (Ref: 00132)

We are partnering with an oil trading company whom looking to hire a Business Analyst.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with front office, finance, risk, and operations teams to analyze trading performance and financial data.
  • Build and maintain financial models to evaluate trading margins, cost drivers, and profitability across different products, geographies, and counterparties.
  • Identify operational and commercial inefficiencies; propose and implement process improvements.
  • Analyze trading P&L, working capital requirements, and cash flow implications of trading strategies.
  • Assist in the budgeting and forecasting process for the trading division.
  • Develop dashboards, reports, and KPIs to support real-time business decision-making.
  • Participate in projects involving system enhancements, trading platform integrations, and automation initiatives.
  • Track and report on the impact of regulatory changes or market trends on trading performance and financial outcomes.
  • Work with IT and data teams to ensure data accuracy and integrity for financial and operational reporting.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or related discipline
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in financial analysis, business analysis, or commercial planning roles (preferably in oil & gas, energy, or commodity trading industries)
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and financial modeling
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) is advantageous
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work independently in a fast-paced, matrixed environment with multiple stakeholders
  • Strong commercial acumen with an understanding of the oil & gas value chain
  • Candidates who are able to communicate in fluent Mandarin will be an added advantage due to requirement to liaise with Mandarin-speaking stakeholders and partners
